Skilled Nursing

Our registered nurses (RNs) work with your doctors to give you the best care possible. Their care includes health assessments, monitoring vital signs, medication teaching, drawing blood and obtaining other samples for lab testing, wound dressing changes, giving injections, ostomy teaching and management, IV infusion management, and more. A registered nurse is available for urgent questions or situations 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Your nurse will generally be the first clinician to arrive at your home to make an assessment of your overall condition, which will include a thorough medical history and assessment of your current health. In addition, our nurse will review each of your medications with you to make sure you understand the dosage, side effects, and avoid potentially harmful drug interactions. Your nurse is also there to listen to your concerns and offer solutions for you. Your National Home Healthcare nurse will collect all information about your health and report back to your doctor for a treatment plan and updates.

Occupational Therapy

Your physician may order occupational therapy to help you learn more about how to use medical equipment, or to help managing daily tasks in the home. Your occupational therapist can help you manage and get better at tasks such as bathing, dressing, meal preparation, eating and more. Occupational therapists have lots of tips and techniques to help you preserve energy and master daily activities.  To regain day to day skills like eating, dressing, housekeeping and personal care, our occupational therapists are ready to assist you and your family.

Medical Social Workers

Our medical social workers play a vital role in the care team. When a patient is admitted, a social worker may perform an assessment to determine limitations, barriers or safety issues that could make recovery more difficult. Our social workers are able to educate you and your family about community resources and assist with long term planning to help you with difficult situations.

Physical Therapy

Therapy can be provided at home to help you recover from illness, injury or surgery. Our experienced physical therapy staff will assist you with therapeutic exercises to get you back on your feet faster.

National Home Healthcare’s physical therapists will perform an assessment on the first visit to assess your strength and ability to function. The therapist will set goals for you to reach by the end of your certification period, and give you exercises to work on at home between visits. Depending on the plan of care, the physical therapist will work with you to improve your balance, strength, walking distance, range-of-motion, posture and more.

Physical therapy helps you regain motion and strength after a fall, a surgery, a stroke or heart attack, or even after a period of increased weakness. Our therapists can also evaluate your need for equipment, and teach you how to increase your ability to become independent so that you can get back to doing the activities that you love.

Speech Therapy

Speech therapy can help you improve your speaking and swallowing abilities. Speech therapists can also work on memory improvement exercises so you can get better at finding misplaced items. Speech therapists also help you to regain communication skills to express wants and needs to help with your care. Patients who receive speech therapy in the home often respond to treatment better than in a facility or hospital because they are more comfortable with their surroundings.

Home Health Aides

Certified Nurse Aides (CNAs) work with your care team and execute a supervised care plan to assist with part-time intermittent needs such as bathing, toileting and dressing while you are recovering from illness or injury. This care is performed in coordination with your skilled clinical team, and physician ordered. Your skilled coverage may cover an infrequent home health aide when the patient is also receiving skilled services.
